Fundamentals: Brown Butter From the kitchen of ploafmaster

Ingredients: Real Butter (this won’t work otherwise)


  1. Heat a pan on high heat on the stove for at least five minutes.
  2. Add your butter and start stirring until it’s all liquid.
  3. Stir occasionally until the butter starts to turn brown in color. It will smell nutty and toasty.
  4. As soon as it’s a medium brown instead of golden, do one of the following (immediately!): add your food to the pan, or pour your brown butter into a dish. Straining is optional.

You can add this stuff to almost anything that’s already improved by the addition of butter.
