Ingredients:
- About 5 apples
- a few TB lemon juice
- 1/2 c. butter, chilled
- 3/4 c. flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- pinch of salt
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375ยบ
Grease a 9” pie pan and set aside.
Peel apples and slice thin. Place in a bowl, sprinkle with lemon juice and mix to evenly coat.
In a bowl or food processor combine the flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Slice the butter into pieces and cut into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. I like to do this in the food processor to save time, but a fork works just as well.
Pour the apples into the pie plate and cover with the flour/butter mixture. Bake for about 45 minutes until bubbly. I like to then turn it up to broil for about 2 minutes to make the crust good and crunchy. Let it cool for about a half hour, make some coffee and enjoy.
