Best Tomato Sauce Ever From the kitchen of taylorrific

Ingredients:

  • 1 28oz. can San Marzano tomatoes
  • 5 TB butter
  • 1 sweet yellow onion, peeled and halved

Directions:

  • Add can of tomatoes, butter and onion to a large pot. Heat on medium until the sauce begins to simmer then lower the heat and simmer for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally, mashing the tomatoes with a wooden spoon. Remove from heat, discard onion and salt to taste.

  • If you want to add ground meat (I like to add Italian sausage), brown in the pot first, drain and set aside. I then like to rub the flat side of the onion over the brown bits to add some flavor. Add the meat back in when the sauce is finished cooking.
