- put a handful of basil into a shaker (the more the better)
- muddle the basil, pour in 2oz gin and then let sit for about 5 minutes
- add juice from half a lemon (should be about 1/2 oz) and a 1/2 oz simple syrup
- toss the shell of the lemon into the shaker, add ice and then shake the ever living hell out of it (key part of a “Smash”)
- pour over ice a rocks glass (don’t strain out the basil bits)
