Skillet Seared Steak From the kitchen of wyattdanger

Ingredients

  • Flatiron steak(s)
  • Cast iron skillet, one for each steak
  • Olive oil
  • Favorite steak seasonsings (sea salt, ground pepper, etc)

Directions

  1. Place skillets in oven and preheat to 500°F
  2. Rub seasonings and olive oil onto the steaks
  3. After oven reaches 500°F, remove skillets from oven and place them over a high flame on the stove
  4. Immediately place steaks on the dry skillets
  5. 30 seconds on one side, then flip. 30 seconds on the next side, then put in oven. 90 seconds in oven, then flip. 90 more seconds, then remove and serve

It’s worth noting that the times listed above are ideal for a thin cut of steak. If you choose not to use flatiron, you’ll likely want to up the time in the oven.
